Does Acupuncture Hurt?

One of our most frequently asked questions that we get at Greenstone Acupuncture is: Does Acupuncture hurt? The good news, is that most people feel very little or no pain, but you may feel sensations from the needles during your session. Here's everything you need to know about our Acupuncture needles.

What needles do we use?

When we treat our patients, we use acupuncture needles that vary in length and gauge (thickness) depending on the area of the body being treated. The needles are:

- Filiform

- Single use

- Not hypodermic

- Do not draw blood

- Stainless steel and sharp

Our needles are of the highest of quality and are only used once!

If you ever have any questions about the sensations that you're feeling during your treatment, be sure to ask the Greenstone team and if you're feeling any sense of unease or discomfort, let us know!

How do we dispose our needles?

At Greenstone, we are very environmentally conscious. We only purchase needles from companies which we can recycle their packaging and the soft plastics encasing the needles.

What are other techniques used in the treatment room?

We also use other tools including cupping, Gua Sha, laser, and electro. You may find our practitioners use these in conjunction with needles in your treatment!
